I haven't posted yet this month because I genuinely haven't felt the need to get angry at God. Given I have just gone through a third miscarriage, this surprises me!! As I have been reflecting on what to connect with you all about as we draw this month to a close Compassion kept coming to mind.
Why compassion when we are supposed to be getting angry??!!...
Anger is an emotion present in our daily lives just like any other. It is one of those things that is both healthy and destructive. I believe that it is a gift to be able to express your anger in a healthy way as so many people let it destroy their lives and relationships. It is also something that I feel has a negative association, and for that reason a lot of people choose not to express it when they feel it.
Yet to be able to get angry at God, the universe, your guardian angel or higher power, can facilitate a safer environment to release what you might not otherwise feel able to express. There is no judgement, no comeback, no argument afterwards, just acceptance, and the opportunity to let go.
God for me is the ultimate parent. Unconditional, patient, non-judging, always there, full of love. In my 'non-anger' this month, my ultimate parent taught me a different way of releasing emotion that may otherwise have ended up as anger. Compassion.
Compassion is to recognise the suffering of others and then take action to help - but how often do we do this for ourselves? If I can be more compassionate with myself, recognise my own needs and then actually do something for myself to heal that, what a gift. This month I chose not to get angry at God, but instead to be more compassionate towards myself. And after many previous experiences of ranting anger, it was a much more pleasant experience!
So this month, whether you ranted like you never have before, or spent the month doing nothing as you felt there was nothing that needed venting, in this last week of our lesson - I would ask you to practise being compassionate with yourself, and in turn feel the warm glow of healing that it offers you.
What is the Book of Life Club?...
Inspired by a personal desire to bring about change in the world we live in & the Life Lessons of Regina Brett - the Book of Life Club was born. We are a small group of women who are trying to change our environment by changing our own behaviour; trying to act with more grace, gratitude, kindness, joy and love by supporting each other through monthly gatherings and (hopefully) inspirational blog posts! I once read that all it takes for evil to win is for one person not to act, so we are acting....and seeing where it might lead us!
